Seer terms of service

DRAFT FOR LEGAL REVIEW - NOT IN FORCE. Placeholders in [BRACKETS]. Consumer-protection rules differ between EU member states; counsel must adapt liability, warranty, governing-law and withdrawal clauses.

Version: [VERSION] - Effective: [DATE]

These terms are an agreement between you and [CONTROLLER LEGAL NAME], [ADDRESS] ("we") about the Seer launcher, the Seer Client game modification, the website seerclient.com and the Seer online services (together "Seer").

1. What Seer is

Seer is a launcher and an independent client for Minecraft: Java Edition, with optional online features (account, friends, settings sync, cosmetics, mod catalogue). Seer is not an official Minecraft product and is not approved by or associated with Mojang or Microsoft. You need your own legitimate Minecraft account; your use of Minecraft remains subject to the Minecraft EULA and Microsoft's terms.

2. Who can use Seer

You must be at least 13 years old, or older if the law of your country requires it for you to use online services without a parent's consent (up to 16). If you are under 18, make sure a parent or guardian agrees to these terms.

3. Your Seer account

  • Give a valid email address and keep your password secret. You are responsible for activity on your account. Enable two-factor authentication if you can.
  • One person per account. Do not share, sell or transfer accounts.
  • Your display name must not impersonate others, be offensive or infringe rights. We may require you to change it.
  • Tell us at support@seerclient.com if you think your account was compromised.

4. Linking Minecraft accounts

You may link only Minecraft accounts you own. The launcher keeps your Microsoft / Minecraft sign-in on your own device; we never receive those credentials.

5. Acceptable use

Do not:

  • attack, overload, probe or reverse-engineer our servers or APIs beyond what the law allows, or bypass rate limits or access controls;
  • use Seer to cheat, harass, spam, or break the rules of servers you join; server operators may ban modified clients, and that is their right;
  • upload or distribute malware, or content you have no rights to;
  • scrape the cosmetics or mod services in bulk or use them to track players.

6. Mods and third-party content

Mods in the catalogue are made by third parties. We check packages for integrity (SHA-256) but we do not guarantee that mods are safe, work, or are suitable for you; install them at your own risk. Mod authors keep their rights; their licences apply.

7. Cosmetics

Cosmetics are a licence to display an item in Seer; they have no monetary value, cannot be exchanged for money and may be changed or retired. [IF PAID COSMETICS ARE SOLD: purchase terms, price display, right of withdrawal for digital content (Directive 2011/83/EU Art. 16(m)), refunds - COUNSEL TO DRAFT.]

8. Advertising

The free launcher may show ads in one slot. Personalised ads appear only with your consent and never for accounts not confirmed as 16+. See the cookie and ads policy.

9. Availability and changes

We provide Seer as it is and try to keep it running, but we do not promise uninterrupted availability. We may change or discontinue features; for material changes to these terms we will notify you in advance in the launcher/website. If you do not agree you can delete your account.

10. Ending the agreement

You can delete your account at any time (Settings > Privacy > Delete my account). We may suspend or terminate accounts that seriously or repeatedly breach these terms, after notice where reasonable. Data is then handled as described in the privacy policy.

11. Liability

[COUNSEL TO DRAFT according to applicable consumer law. Typical structure: unlimited liability for intent, gross negligence, injury to life/body/health and under mandatory product-liability law; for slight negligence only for breach of essential obligations and limited to foreseeable damage; no other liability.] Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer.

12. Intellectual property

Seer's code, name and logo belong to [CONTROLLER] or its licensors. [Open-source components and their licences are listed in the launcher under Settings > About > Licences.]

13. Law and disputes

[GOVERNING LAW - COUNSEL]. If you are a consumer in the EU you also keep the protection of the mandatory law of your country of residence and may sue in your courts. EU online dispute resolution: https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr [CHECK: the ODR platform is being discontinued - counsel to update].
